This video explains how a standalone RS485 thermostat controls a wall-mounted split air conditioner through an infrared transmitter.
Video Overview
This standalone solution allows a hotel thermostat panel to control a wall-mounted split air conditioner.
Because the original air conditioner remote is usually one-way, it cannot directly communicate with the guest room control system.
Our thermostat uses an infrared transmitter to send commands to the indoor unit.
The transmitter is fixed near the air conditioner receiver window and aimed at the indoor unit.
After the transmitter and thermostat are connected, the guest can use the wall panel to control the air conditioner.
Temperature, mode, fan speed, and power control can all be handled from the thermostat panel.
This makes a normal wall-mounted split air conditioner easier to integrate into a hotel guest room control project.
